Create a Schoolyard Habitat

Start a Bird Club!
It’s educational and fun to start a bird club in your school, and it doesn’t have to cost a lot. You don’t need to know a lot about birds either. Guide students to find their own answers to their questions. You can add many activities to get students outside and engaged in science and other learning activities. They could improve the schoolyard habitat, feed birds, participate in a citizen science program and more! Read all about it here.

Wild School Site Grants!
Starting September 1, Wild School Site Grants are available from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for schools or teaching organizations to start a wildlife habitat or outdoor classroom. Fulfilling Wild School Site’s requirements would make your school eligible to be a nationally certified Schoolyard Habitat (see article above). Read the grant guidelines and application.
