FREE TREES FOR A FALL EVENT

August 10, 2017 Kids and Nature Uncategorized

Plan a tree-planting event this fall and provide children and young people with a hands-on opportunity to learn about the importance of native trees and how to plant and take care of trees. Free, native bare-root tree seedlings are available to certified Schoolyard Habitats http://www.nwf.org/Garden-For-Wildlife/Create/Schoolyards.aspx If you aren’t already certified, you can certify your school through the National Wildlife Federation. There is no cost for schoolyard certification.

The free trees are available through the National Wildlife Federation’s ‘Trees for Wildlife’ program. You’ll need to plan to use a minimum of 100 bare-root, native trees for your tree giveaway and/or tree planting event. Information about the Trees for Wildlife program and application guidelines may be found HERE http://www.nwf.org/Trees-for-Wildlife/About/Tree-Bank-Information.aspx Note: If you would like to post an official Certified Schoolyard Habitat sign to show that your school is nationally certified, which installs pride and explains what you are doing and why, see http://www.shopnwf.org/2780-SYHSIGN-Classic-Certified-Schoolyard-Habitat-Sign.pro
