Shared use, sometimes called joint or community use, can help Ohioans get active and lead healthier lives by providing physical activity, recreation and community opportunities close to home in a familiar, convenient environment. Shared use is applied through policy, formal and non-formal agreements, and allows community members access to facilities such as schools, parks, playgrounds, tracks, and open space during off hours. In addition to the recreational benefits, shared use policy can “open doors” to economic, safety and social benefits, and greater connectivity in your community.
At this webinar, you will learn:
How shared use affects community health, connectivity, and physical activity opportunities;
How policies and agreements provide access and can help overcome barriers; and
What resources are available to facilitate shared use agreements in your community.
Learn the ins-and-outs of shared use, and connect with others that are working towards making shared use a win-win for communities, schools, local government and more!
This is the first of a Shared Use webinar series hosted by the Safe Routes to School National Partnership/Ohio Safe Routes Network, American Heart Association and Buckeye Healthy Schools Alliance with funding from County Health Rankings & Roadmaps.
