March 18, 2009In my travels downtown yesterday, I discovered a marker nestled in a brick and concrete corner on the North side of the City Center Parking garage on Rich St.
The first Kindergarten was established on the South East corner of Pearl Ave and Rich Street in 1858. The name means “Children’s Garden” and is based on the philosophy of Friedrich Froebel who emphasized the importance of children’s play and active involvement in learning.
Boy does that sound familiar, huh?
I’d love to see this marker freed from its unnatural location and celebrated in the new green space of the Columbus Commons area.
