It could be the end of the road for a path along Big Walnut Creek if the Gahanna City Council refuses to support an
application for a Clean Ohio Trail Fund grant. The council took no action on the request last week, but several members
indicated that they are concerned about the city having to come up with between $82,000 and $86,000 for its share of
project. Tony Collins, Parks and Recreation Department director, said the grant, if approved, would pay to complete about
3,000 feet of the Big Walnut Trail that would join the existing trail near the bridge, between Woodside Green and Academy
Park, and proceed south to connect with Nob Hill Drive. Council President David Samuel questioned the need for Gahanna to
spend $86,000, considering the poor economy.
