March 19, 2010LNCI Advocates –
I will be joining fellow parks and recreation professionals from Ohio and across the nation on March 18 in Washington, D.C. for “Parks and Recreation Day on Capitol Hill.” One of our top legislative priorities is the No Child Left Inside Act of 2009, S. 866 and H.R. 2054. We will be making an all out effort to secure U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown’s support for the NCLI Act as a co-sponsor of S. 866. Senator Brown is a member of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions committee, which has jurisdiction over the bill in the U.S. Senate.
To make our collective voices resonate in Washington, I am urging you to take a few minutes and send Senator Brown a letter urging him to sign on as a co-sponsor of the NCLI Act, S. 866. A sample letter is attached, but you are welcome to tailor the message to better fit the interests of your organization. It is important that you send the letter before Thursday, March 18 to get the full impact of our advocacy efforts.
As the No Child Left Behind Act is scheduled for reauthorization this year, this is our window of opportunity to raise the profile of environmental education and to reconnect children and families with nature and the outdoors.
Thanks for your continuing support.
