The Gallery in the Garden at Sanctuary for The Arts is planned for Sunday afternoon, July 26, from 2:00-5:30pm. As with any new events, the Gallery is still changing, evolving, sprouting ‘“ much like the garden itself. Please read on for some clarification and new developments:
The Gallery in the Garden is meant to be an afternoon of discovery and camaraderie, in keeping with the mission of Sanctuary for The Arts. Visual artists are invited to display original creations. Poets, vocalists, musicians, writers are invited to share their art through reading and performing. Family, friends, general public are invited to join artists in appreciating new original works and purchasing if they desire. And gallery owners are invited for the opportunity of discovering new artistic talent.
I invite you to an afternoon of sharing of all forms of art, selling/buying if the stars align, mingling in the trees (aka gallery walls). There is no need to produce a vast quantity of work for a ‘˜product’ inventory. This event is more about the process ‘“ just like the Sanctuary for The Arts. Feel free to display art that represents your most passionate creation, your latest idea, and share with other artists. Feel free to prepare 5 minute excerpts from essays, novels, or poems. Bring several ‘“ you’ll have a chance to read more than once.
If you’re new to showing your work, I encourage you to give it a shot. There’s no better feedback than from your fellow artists. If you’re seasoned, give it a fresher shot and bring your expertise to the discussions.
And new developments –
The entry fee has been reduced to $10. Deadline for entry is received-by-July 20 (not much time).
Note for performing artists (poets, writers, musicians, vocalists): You must submit an entry form by July 20, just email it’¦ then bring your entry fee on Sunday. The entry fee for each reader/performer is 1 bottle of wine.
