Special invitation to members: Earth Day screening of Where Do the Children Play
April 2, 2008Don’t forget about the Earth Day screening!
April 9, 2008As some of you may know, The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is helping to advance the Leave No Child Inside cause by putting on a big program this summer. They will be distributing “passports” to public school children. The kids can get their passports stamped by participating in various outdoor activities such as fishing, boating and camping. They can receive rewards and incentives for completing the program, just like the summer reading program at the library. It is called Explore the Outdoors, and it is coming from a high level at the Ohio Department of Natural Resources – it is across all divisions, including Wildlife, state parks, etc.
How you can help:
1. Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 10. There will be a big kick-off event at Alum Creek State Park!
2. If your organizations has any funds to spare, ODNR is looking for partners to print the passports. I’m sure your logo would appear on the passport in exchange for your help.
How this helps you:
1. The kickoff is going to be a media event, so if you attend, you may receive some publicity for your organization.
2. The more kids who are there having fun in nature, the more parents will see TV footage and newspaper coverage of a fun, wholesome experience, which can only help our cause.
More information will come to you as ODNR progresses with its plans!
