Privately-owned Woodland Altars being logged after long debate
June 13, 2009‘Parade of Certified Wildlife Gardens’ – Worthington
June 18, 2009Across the nation, grassroots collaboratives have been naming themselves whatever they chose: Leave No Child Inside, No Child Left Inside, Building Bridges to the Outdoors, etc.
The Children & Nature Network (Richard Louv is on the board) recognized that, although these efforts need to remain autonomous and keep their identities, there was also a need for a national, consistent set up materials, logos, and brand to reach out to average Americans who have so far not been tuned into this movement.
A partnership was formed among organizations and retailers, and a campaign was born. It recently launched, and the folks at ecoAmerica want you to know that most of the brand – images, logos, PowerPoint presentations and materials – are available to you for free.
The theme is: Nature Rocks!
This phrase was tested with parents and performed better than Leave No Child Inside, among other options that were tried. (As we all know, people cannot remember Leave No Child Inside, and call it all sorts of other things!)
Here in Central Ohio, we have no plans to change the name of our collaborative, but may begin using Nature Rocks either alongside our own logo, or prominently when trying to reach out to parents and kids who might not be familiar with our message.
There are tons of materials available, and you only have to sign up to get a free license to use most of them. (The little animal graphics are really cute!) www.naturerocks.org is the site.
The Nature Rocks site includes an activity finder and more. Check it out! Reply with any questions you might have.
