Leave No Child Inside Summit ’08 Notes: What we like about nature
October 23, 2008Leave No Child Inside Summit ’08 Notes: Networking Schools and Organizations
October 23, 2008StoryCorps by video- This session was called as an opportunity for people to record (or witness a recording) their story of children and nature.
Members:
Alice Hohl
Rev. Merv Brereton, Kicks for Kids
Judith Levicoff (The Butterfly Lady)
Pia Brady (Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission)
Sandy Willmore, Coyote Trails and New Albany Schools
etc.
Essences:
Merv and Judith generously shared their stories on video. I will post these on the site at some point soon.
Others observed and discussed ideas for what to do with the video, or how to use video in general.
One member in particular, whose name I missed, suggested having students take video of why they love the outdoors, and producing a documentary to play in schools that don’t have environmental ed programs.
Great idea!
Next steps for this group:
Encourage students (maybe the NAHS and CAHS students who attended?) to produce a documentary. Distribute to schools.
Recommendations for Steering Committee:
Use more video. Make video available on the site.
