Nature Scoop – Central Ohio email news about backyard and school habitats
July 22, 2014Welcome New Member Olentangy Paddle!
September 9, 2014Hi fellow bird educators,
Thanks to a renewal of our Pennington Wild Bird Feed sponsorship, we’re aiming to distribute window bird feeders to 10,000 teachers and are offering 25 teachers schoolyard habitat improvement grants. We also have binoculars to give away thanks to a donation from Celestron. I hope you can share this news with teachers you work with, and would also like to offer you feeders to give out at your teacher workshops this fall/winter through our Ambassador program.
First, if you are planning to lead any bird/nature focused workshops this fall/winter or would like to plan one, we’d be happy to send you bird feeders to give out to the teachers. We ask that you introduce them to ourFeathered Friends resources (free download) and give them some background on bird feeding. We can provide logistical support and a customizable Powerpoint presentation to help you organize and support your workshop. For information, please visit our website.
Second, we are giving away Habitat Hero grants ($10,000 in prizes, plus other resources!) and classroom sets of binoculars (thanks to a generous donation from Celestron). Please pass the word to teachers you know (Facebook, email, Twitter, etc.). We’d like to get the word out far and wide to teachers who can use money and materials to support their bird-friendly schoolyards and citizen-science monitoring.
I hope everyone has had a great summer! We’re ramping up for a busy fall and are excited that we can support more teachers. Thanks in advance for spreading the news!
Best,
Jennifer
