Boo in the Bog at Cedar Bog Nature Preserve, 980 Woodburn Rd., Urbana, OH 43078 Friday, October 19 and Saturday, October 20, 2012 from 7:00-9:00 PM. Boo in the Bog is a non-scary family event. Guided tours wend their way around a luminary and jack-o-lantern lit boardwalk where there are six stations interpreting animals and giving out treats. Storyteller Melanie Pratt will chill and thrill you with scary tales for all ages around a campfire. Inside, there will be face painting, environmental games, a barred owl cutout to take your photo as a bird in flight, a craft project, games and food. Come early and see a red-tailed hawk demonstration.
Call 1-800-860-0147 or 937-484-3744, Wednesday through Saturday from 10 AM to 4:00 PM, to make your reservations. Time slots fill up quickly and tours leave at scheduled intervals. Please arrive at least fifteen minutes ahead of your scheduled tour. Admission is $6 for adults and $5 for children with a $1 discount given to OHS and CBA members. Going Wild at Cedar Bog!
November 10, 2012 from 8:15 AM to 3:45 PM at Cedar Bog Nature Preserve, 980 Woodburn Rd., Urbana, OH 43078 A Project Wild, Project Wild Aquatic, and Growing Up Wild Workshop for K-6 educators, home schooling adults, and volunteers who work with children. There is a small class fee of $5 to cover facilities use and consumable materials. The Project wild, Project Wild Aquatic and Growing Up Wild Activity Guides are provided free by the Ohio Division of Wildlife. Project Wild is interdisciplinary and uses music, snacks, math, reading, language arts and science as well as outdoor games and activities to teach children about wild animals. For teachers, this class is eligible for CEUs dependent upon approval by your local professional development board.
