LNCI Welcomes new member Cynthia Coss!
September 10, 2012Book Recommendation for Educators
September 26, 2012On October 24, the Buckeye Healthy Schools Alliance will host a workshop on the School Health Index. The School Health Index (SHI): Self-Assessment & Planning Guide is a self-assessment and planning tool that schools can use to improve their health and safety policies and programs. It’s easy to use and completely confidential.
The SHI was developed by CDC in partnership with school administrators and staff, school health experts, parents, and national nongovernmental health and education agencies to:
- Enable schools to identify strengths and weaknesses of health and safety policies and programs
- Enable schools to develop an action plan for improving student health, which can be incorporated into the School Improvement Plan
- Engage teachers, parents, students, and the community in promoting health-enhancing behaviors and better health
This exciting event will take place from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm at the Ohio Center for Occupational Safety and Health located at 13430 Yarmouth Drive, just east of Columbus in Pickerington. Our CDC trainer will be Margaret Sproule, Ph.D., CHES from the Exercise, Sport, and Health Education Department at Radford University.
