May 24, 2012Buckeye Healthy Schools Alliance (BHSA) is hosting a new workshop this summer on creating a classroom that moves (see below) and registration is open for our 23rd annual coordinated school health conference. Both events are being held at the beautiful Cherry Valley Lodge in Newark, Ohio.
“Create A Classroom that Moves” is a 6-hour skill building workshop that will be held on June 25, 2012 at Cherry Valley Lodge in Newark, Ohio. Join the movement! Classroom-based physical activity is an instructional tool teachers can use to improve mood, energy levels and facilitate student learning. In this session, classroom teachers will learn to identify opportunities for incorporating activity into the busy classroom. This session is geared for the busy elementary (K-5) classroom teacher who would like to integrate nutrition and physical activity into the classroom. Registration is now open! Cost is $50 and includes lunch and all materials.
Strengthening Academic Achievement with Healthier Kids is the theme of this year’s annual coordinated school health conference. The conference will be held June 26 & 27 at Cherry Valley Lodge in Newark, Ohio. More & more research is showing that the academic success of America’s youth is strongly linked with their health. Schools can play a critical role in promoting the health and safety of young people and helping them establish lifelong healthy behaviors. The 2012 conference will offer participants pertinent and informative plenary & break-out sessions, excellent speakers, as well as strategies, guidelines, & tools for schools to incorporate into action plans that can be used to address health risk behaviors in an effort to reduce these risky behaviors & improve academic achievement among students. Participants will receive hand-outs, program ideas and resources, and on-site technical assistance.
At BHSA, we believe that healthy students are better learners. You can find more information including a schedule at a glance andregistration details online at www.BHSAlliance.org.
