Westerville Parents to Have a New Kindergarten Enrichment Opportunity for their Children

Westerville, OH ‘” June 21, 2011 ‘” Westerville parents seeking a full-day kindergarten experience for their child will soon have a solution with the opening of BrightPath Active Learning at 401 E. Schrock Road.

BrightPath Active Learning is a kindergarten enrichment program that will complement a child’s traditional kindergarten program in the local schools. Enrolled children will attend their regular half-day kindergarten program at school and then attend BrightPath the remaining part of the day ‘” either morning or afternoon ‘” with after school care also being offered.

BrightPath is founded on the philosophy of actively engaging children in their own learning through nature, the environment and physical activity. Children will be outdoors, exploring nature and the environment around them, but at the same time actively learning the literacy, math, science and social studies skills required in kindergarten.

Director and founder, Erica Wares, is excited to bring BrightPath’s unique approach to learning to the community. BrightPath is not a nature school, but we will use nature as a forum for learning. Children have an inherent fascination with the world around them and our professional teachers will take their natural interests and curiosities and turn it into an exciting educational experience.

BrightPath’s curriculum will be run and taught by a licensed kindergarten teacher. Other educational professionals, such as naturalists and music specialists, also will supplement the teaching.

Wares said she anticipates opening in August. BrightPath is beginning a pre-enrollment process July 1, 2011, with an advance sign-up list. Those families who have pre-enrolled will be the first to enroll when BrightPath begins its formal process in August.

Wares said she sees a need in the Westerville community for an all-day kindergarten experience and BrightPath is the solution for those parents seeking more than a half-day program for their kindergartener.

Our program is small, and we anticipate that the slots will fill up fast, so we encourage parents to come to our information sessions or contact us to learn more, said Wares.
