April 19, 2011Yes, dear, there is a Spring! Bradford Pears do bloom, rock garden tulips do burst and mayapples do push up the earth. Wildflowers are finally popping up at Sanctuary for The Arts. The ‘˜snowbirds’ haven’t returned, but they’ll be here in time to build nests’¦ in unique felted wool bird house/nests. A new workshop, Treehouse Art: a felted wool nesting place, teaches the near-magical process of wet felting for sculpting a nest/birdhouse, based on Megan Henderson’s design from ancient traditions. Patterned after the nest of a Mongolian bird who builds its nest in this shape, from wool, with only one way in and out of the nest, the Mongols believe that good things gathered in these nests will not escape. The nest/birdhouse you create can become a vessel for safekeeping small treasures and good things. Or it can hang outdoors as a dwelling place for Ohio birds. Early bird registration ends April 20 for the workshop on May 1. Registration details at www.Sanctuary-for-The-Arts.com.
