USA TODAY: Federal program gives families ‘nature prescriptions’
February 28, 2011Environmental Education Conference registration open!
March 7, 2011Our first Leave No Child Inside meeting via conference call was successful!
We shared our accomplishments from 2010 which were many and varied. You can read about them yourself in our condensed annual report. (It has great photos! And a prescription pad for outdoor play! Check it out.)
We agreed to continue meeting monthly on the 3rd Monday at noon, via Webex web/conference call. This is a conference calling system where you can either call in on the phone, or connect using your computer, or both. If you connect to the audio using your computer, the call will be free. Meeting info here.
We also shared information about our Ohio Environmental Education Fund grant, which is assisting us with our public education efforts. We have been able to obtain a video camera to create educational videos, and materials and mileage to attend more festivals, fairs and events. We have spoken to many new audiences, and will also have a booth at a physician event when the local medical community hosts a former U.S. Surgeon General here in Columbus.
Please look for information from us soon about how ALL our members (education, parks, policy, nature centers, camps, urban planning, etc.) can participate in a possible June event in Columbus, which local physicians will be hosting for families about the importance of outdoor play.
