Greetings!
Most of us don't live on a farm nor do we have direct experiences with growing many of the foods we eat. Action for Children is excited to invite you to be part of a new initiative, Nurturing Nature Through the Foods We Eat, that will engage you in the why's and how's of connecting your afterschool students with food sources. |
Children are growing up without meaningful contact with the natural world and without an understanding of how we obtain our food. You are the perfect person to offer the knowledge and experiences to them.
This program, designed specifically for afterschool programs, links food ecology with science, math, social studies and language arts. You will receive 10 hours of SUTQ standards based workshops, individualized follow up technical assistance, books and materials for you and your families, specially designed experiences with an environmental educator from a local farm, and much more. |
Nurturing Nature Through the Foods We Eat is made available by the Ohio Environmental Education Fund. The program begins March 2011, but spaces are limited. Applications are due no later than February 25, 2011.
You can visit our website at http://www.actionforchildren.org for program details, download the application form, and download a program flyer to share with your staff and afterschool colleagues. If you have questions, please don't hesitate to call me at 614-224-0222, ext. 126. |
We hope that this educational experience will renew in you the importance of caring for our earth and for each other Through the Foods We Eat. Please take the time to read the information on our website. You won't want to miss out on this wonder-filled opportunity!
Sincerely,
