January 31, 2009We covered a lot of ground on a chilly night, huddled in Action for Children’s offices. (Thanks for hosting, Betsy!)
The two main things:
The Baby the Planet Expo – We will have a booth to staff at the zoo. What could we give out? We talked and we think we have struck on a cheap solution: Put up a sign about how the stick has been inducted into the toy hall of fame.
Then pass out small sticks, put out a jar of googly eyes and glue to decorate the sticks, and attach a label to each stick with our name and Web site. We also came up with other ideas to engage kids and parents as they are walking by. Great discussion!
Strategic Planning: We took a look at all the agencies and organizations working in this area, to clarify our role and their roles. We also decided to aim for a Strategic Planning session of some kind in the first half of this year. We’d also like to get input from stakeholders in a way that isn’t an all-day commitment. So we are planning on having three times for people to come and give input, and then a time for the Steering Committee and perhaps others to huddle and have a chance to reflect and clarify our direction. We are currently working on getting space and facilitation donated.
