August 14, 2008The City of Columbus now has a new Active Living Institute housed at Columbus Public Health. The mission of the institute is to help Columbus residents build an active and healthier community and the institute will work to lower the incidence of chronic diseases by implementing strategies to make Columbus a more active, vibrant place to live.
During the citizen summit held earlier this year, residents stated they love their home town values but want to live in and become an active, vibrant city. The institute will work to provide residents the opportunity to make healthier, active choices in the areas of food access, physical activity and the built enviroment.
