City of Columbus Dog Park update
February 4, 2008Reminder – Meeting Feb. 28!
February 15, 2008Go Green! As adults and parents, we know how important the subject of the environment is to the quality of our children’s lives now and in the future. How do we stress this importance in fun, meaningful ways? When should we begin talking with our children about the environment? Action for Children has answers to such questions.
The area of environmental education has been identified as a key need for children birth through age five. Leading experts in the field recognize that children have dramatically decreasing access to experiences in natural environments and express concern how this deficit will impact future generations and their point of view towards the environment.
Keeping with its invaluable and progressive position in the community, Action for Children sought out and received an Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) grant. Nurturing Nature in the Wonder Years is a dynamic program that provides standards-based professional development for early childhood teachers in child care settings, participation for parents through Nature Circles, and a seminar for members of the child care community led by renowned nature expert, Dr. Ruth Wilson. It has the potential to impact over 1,000 children. This program is revolutionary in that its focus is early learning experiences for our youngest children.
Established in 1972, Action for Children is the SOURCE for child care and early learning services in central Ohio. For more information about the Nurturing Nature in the Wonder Years program and its esteemed partners, please contact Betsy Loeb at
