Black and Brown Faces in America’s Wild Places

 

By now we all know that being outside in nature makes kids happier, healthier and smarter. But not all children have an equal opportunity to fall in love with nature. What can we learn about each other that will help us give kids the best chance at harvesting nature’s bounty for their minds and bodies?

Location:  Grange Insurance Audubon Center, Columbus Ohio’s Whittier Peninsula  (Map Here)

Date:  Friday, September 27, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Agenda:

8:30 a.m. Registration & Continental Breakfast

9 a.m.   Program begins promptly at 9

  • Exciting performance by CAHS students you won’t want to miss!
  • Keynote by Dudley Edmondson, author of Black and Brown Faces in America’s Wild Places Read more about our theme and keynote speaker
  • Discussion groups focused on local experiences and lessons in helping children from diverse cultures explore our local natural resources. 

12:20 p.m.  Locally-sourced lunch by Two Caterers (included in registration cost)

1:30 p.m.    Official program ends

1:30 p.m.    Optional screening of the documentary Play Again, a moving film that explores the changing balance between virtual and natural worlds.

Cost:  $22 includes lunch, program and networking
