from Nkrumah (pronounced en-crew-mah) Frazier to Everyone:

Hello everyone!

from Suz Lipman to Everyone:

Great to see everyone here!

from Carla to Everyone:

Thanks for the follow up research via e-mail!

from Carla to Everyone:

Thanks for the encouragement of putting something on the calendar!

from Carla to Everyone:

Is it normal to “harass” wild animals? What should we do when chlidren intentionally harm animals as we explore with them? (Talking about my own son)

from Carla to Everyone:

Way to take action, Nkrumah!

from Carla to Everyone:

What sources are there for grant funding??

from Carmen to Everyone:

I believe we can “harass” or perhaps a better word is “examine” or “investigate” with respect. Teaching respect for nature, I believe, is key.

from Carla to Everyone:

Could it be partnered with a local nature center? Great questions–wonder about these, too!

from Carmen to Everyone:

Way to go, Nkrumah!!

from Sandy Mickey to Everyone:

My experience in researching 501c3 is that you create a Board…which takes the club out of your hands (i.e. the direction of the club is dictated by the board). I’m not convinced that all nature clubs need 501c3 status…I think we can do alot without it and using partnerships (i.e. like you did to get a non-profit to be an account holder for you for grants).  Why are you deciding to go the route of creating a formal non-profit?

from Meghan Mick to Heather Kuhlken (privately):

You said that some affiliation provides insurance for your group? Who is that?

from Carla to Everyone:

I have four boys. It was so interesting to see a recent tree ID hike that all the participants had all boys–get these kids outside. 🙂

from Carmen to Everyone:

I agree that camping with a group of families can be so creative and fun for the kids. My family does a camping trip with 7 families every June and it’s the only time during the year our kids have 3 days of non-stop kid play with very little adult supervision. It’s the highlight of everyone’s year. 🙂

from Carla to Everyone:

Beautiful action shots. Do you have privacy concerns with sharing shots of children? We just had an issue with our website on this today.

from Meghan Mick to Everyone:

I get verbal permission to use photos from parents at each outing.

from Corinne Mockler to Everyone:

Re: Carla’s question about privacy: I have an adult sign a liability form at each trek, with a check box at the bottom giving us permission to use any photos of their kid(s)

from Sandy Mickey to Everyone:

I have new parents sign a release form when they join the club

from Carla to Everyone:

Good idea, everyone.

from Carla to Everyone:

Thanks for addressing multi-age groups!

from Janice Swaisgood to Everyone:

Carla’¦ I have a sign in sheet that includes a liablility and photo release

from Carla to Everyone:

May we ask how much the fee is?

from Carla to Everyone:

What a great undertaking! Very impressive!

from Janice Swaisgood to Everyone:

In case you didn’t catch the fee, it is $200 per year

from Carla to Everyone:

Thanks.

from Bethany Gartin to Everyone:

$200 per person or per family?

from Nkrumah (pronounced en-crew-mah) Frazier to Everyone:

per family

from Janice Swaisgood to Everyone:

Sorry! Yes, per family

from Meghan Mick to Everyone:

Love the sustainable job idea! such great work Heather. I’m inspired!

from Carla to Everyone:

How do you differentiate fees with various family sizes.

from Carmen to Everyone:

Thank you for sharing your great successes, Heather!

from Carla to Everyone:

Meghan, I agree–I volunteer too much right now, but enjoy it all. Flexible type of job with passions.

from Lora Kanning to Everyone:

Could a copy of her budget be included in the follow up email?

from Meghan Mick to Everyone:

Do you personally pay for your website?

from Sandy Mickey to Everyone:

If you have a family join in the middle of the year, do they pay 1/2 the rate?

from Josh to Everyone:

When starting a club how have you found or recruited families to join

from Bethany Gartin to Everyone:

Does it seem like its more expensive for club members once they have insurance?

from Janice Swaisgood to Everyone:

Great question Josh! I have used a variety of tools, and found that meetup.com is the best at bringing in new memberes

from Sandy Mickey to Everyone:

do you have any formality to your club (501c3, LLC, etc.) Heather to be able to accept and manage money?

from Meghan Mick to Everyone:

I started with my friends and then they added people and so on. I do get some requests directly from my website.

from Carla to Everyone:

Thanks for grant info! Partnered with a local nature center, but it needs funding.

from Heather Kuhlken to Alice Hohl (privately):

Families in my children’s schools, our neighborhood and friends of friends have signed up for my group. A couple of families have found us on Facebook.

from Alice Hohl to Heather Kuhlken (privately):

That last reply went just to me instead of everyone.

from Heather Kuhlken to Everyone:

Families in my children’s schools, our neighborhood and friends of friends have signed up for my group. A couple of families have found us on Facebook.

from Bethany Gartin to Everyone:

Heather, we are so happy that Camp Fire contributed to your successess! Congrats on so many families and getting them outdoors!

from Heather Kuhlken to Everyone:

With 3 kids spread over 9 years, there are a lot of school friends who have found out about us over the last 4 1/2 years.

from Lora Kanning to Everyone:

I am local government leading the Nature Club, so partners will work with you, we have insurance/website ect.

from Nkrumah (pronounced en-crew-mah) Frazier to Everyone:

from Lora Kanning to Everyone:

I suggest working with your conservation district/nature centers.

from Carmen to Everyone:

I agree Lora…here at our visitor center we will offer free nature programs (walks, labs, etc) for groups of 10 or more.

from Heather Kuhlken to Everyone:

who do we send photos to?

from Janice Swaisgood to Everyone:

You can send them to me, thanks!

from Heather Kuhlken to Everyone:

I’ll send you a link to my photography website with download permissions

from Meghan Mick to Everyone:
