Walk to School Program–Yea!!!!!!!
January 13, 2010 – 12:10 pmGahanna-Jefferson Public Schools Featured in MORPC’s Walk to School Program
Last October, forty schools in central Ohio participated in Walk to School events held throughout the month. MORPC hosted several coordination meetings to help community leaders, volunteers and teachers learn more about the International Walk to School program and how to set up a program in their schools. International Walk to School Day was held on Wednesday, October 7, 2009, but MORPC promoted it as a month long event. MORPC is continuing to promote and coordinate these efforts around the region. Participating agencies include schools, health departments, service departments, police agencies, and parent associations, among others. The goal is to bring communities together, to build partnerships among different agencies, and to work towards a safer and more livable region.
Each month, MORPC will be highlighting a school district to show off their Walk to School/Safe Routes to School efforts. The school of the month for January is Gahanna—Jefferson Public Schools. Read more about Gahanna-Jefferson’s efforts to promote Walk to School.
